Microsoft announced the end of support for Skype for Business on July 31, 2021. It is worth noting that the retirement of Skype in the business version will not affect on the operation of the popular Skype service for individual users and Skype for Business Server.
The main reason for this decision is the successful launch of a relatively new messenger from Microsoft – the Teams application. In mid-July, it was announced that 13 million users use the new messenger every day. This amount allowed to outdo the main competitor – Slack which is used by 10 million users a day.
So far Skype for Business is still running in parallel with the Teams app.
